Is your commercial air conditioner ready for summer? A well maintained air conditioning unit will run more efficiently and for a longer time, so make sure to get your equipment in tip-top shape for the hot summer months ahead!

Check and Replace Air Filters

Your filters should be changed every 1-2 months. If you aren't on a preventative maintenance schedule, chances are your filters haven't been changed in a while. Furnace filters trap dust, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, pet dander, etc. and prevent them from getting into the air flow. It ensures a higher air quality level, and also keeps your equipment running more efficiently. Infrequent filter replacement can lead to the evaporator coils becoming dirty and clogged.

This is true for both commercial and residential HVAC systems, so you may want to add this to your home to-do list as well!

Clean the Outdoor Condenser Unit

Take a look at your condenser unit. Remove dirt and debris that may have settled there during the long winter. Make sure the condenser unit is clear and nothing is up against it to ensure proper airflow.

Inspect Equipment

You'll want to take a look at the equipment and make sure everything is operational. Can the fan move freely? Do you have any bent coils? How does the wiring look- anything loose or frayed? Are there any blockages in the drain lines? How do your fluid levels look? If they are low, do you see any leaks? How are your evaporator coils? If they are clogged, clean them thoroughly with warm soapy water.
